Deutsche Post

"You don't have to be an artist to be popular…" by Mrs. Ludolph.

For two days I became Mrs. Ludolph's shadow. She is the employee who delivers the post in the very center of Weimar. I followed her all along her pre-scheduled itinerary in the city, a job which is her everyday routine since some years now. Mrs. Ludolph is in contact with the citizens of Weimar in an everyday basis. She does this job since fifteen years.

Remarkable was the quote…: "Do you work for the Stazi?", a joke from another employee, who works inside the post office's settlements. While waiting for Mrs. Ludolph to prepare her bags, to fill them with letters and packages, get ready to "go out" in the city, I was writing down notes about the place and the movement of the people. Memories of East German political history seem to be still vivid.
